Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. When she was a kid she attended at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of the year 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performance of three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma received five nominations for her exceptional performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of a Film.
