Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress, who gained fame for her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun as well as Beta Saajan. Her career began in the early 1980s. Her character as Anil Kapoor in the film Tezaab made her hugely famous. She next appeared in the film Dil in which she was on screen alongside Aamir Khan. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she started learning dance at an early age. She ventured into acting as young and fought through a couple of years since the majority of her first films failed. Then she found her feet and went on to become one of the most prominent actors on the Indian film industry. Following her marriage she had an absence from the industry before returning to the business. She was recently one of the main characters in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit has been nominated 15 times to win Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. Padma Shri - the fourth most highly regarded civilian award in India is awarded to Dixit. The award was also given to her by the field of social work.
